Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Visit at Kaziranga National Park During Assam Tour

The state of Assam in India’s northeast dances in joy as PM Modi visits the magnificent wildlife paradise, Kaziranga National Park and urges the citizens to explore the unparalleled beauty of the region.

On March 9, Narendra Modi Ji visited the rhino hub of Assam, Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve to unleash wildlife adventures in mother nature by engaging on elephant back and jeep safaris within the park with trained officials and later departed for Jorhat to attend several events and ceremonies on development projects of Assam.

Blessed with abundant wildlife, verdant tea gardens, calm waters of the Brahmaputra River, and friendly natives, Assam is the second largest state in Northeast India. The state comprises many unique and unexplored sanctuaries and national parks which include Kaziranga National Park, Manas National Park, Saikhowa National Park, Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary, Orang National Park, Barail Wildlife Sanctuary and several others which are visited by people from different corners of the world.

The rise of Wildlife Tourism in Assam keeps increasing every year as the state houses one of the rarest and unique collections of wildlife that make the region an ideal destination for holidays. Now, PM Narendra Modi’s visit will mark a great milestone in the Wildlife Tourism sector in Assam.

The Assam Government and forest authorities are overjoyed after PM Narendra Modi’s visit as he undertook jungle safaris and interacted with Van Durga, the women forest guards. The Prime Minister praised the women officials for their dedication and courage towards the nation's wildlife.

During the stay, he enjoyed an elephant safari within the Mihimukh Area of the central Kohora range of the park. During the tour, he was followed by a group of 16 elephants and he fed sugarcane to three elephants. PM Modi quoted in a post “Feeding sugarcane to Lakhimai, Pradyumna, and Phool Mai. Kaziranga is known for the rhinos but there are also a large number of elephants there, along with several other species.”

Kaziranga received the tag of national park in February 1974 and this year it celebrated the Golden Jubilee. PM Modi on March 9 unveiled the magnificent bronze statue of height 125 feet world renowned Ahom general Lachit Barphukan at Jorhat.

In addition, he unveiled development projects worth ₹17,500 crore and also laid the foundation stone under the Prime Minister's Development Initiative for North Eastern Region (PM-DevINE) scheme at a public gathering at Meleng Meteli Pothar in Jorhat. This project includes the Medical College and Hospital at Sivasagar and the Hemato-Lymphoid Centre in Guwahati.
