Kaziranga National Park Records Highest Tourist Footfall in 2025-26, Tourism Sees Remarkable Growth

Tourist arrivals at Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve have reached a record high in the 2025-26 tourism year, highlighting the destination’s growing appeal among wildlife travellers. Official figures show that the UNESCO World Heritage Site welcomed 5,48,319 visitors, including 32,765 international tourists, between April 1, 2025, and May 28, 2026. The steady rise in footfall comes as Kaziranga continues to expand its tourism offerings with new attractions, eco-tourism initiatives and improved visitor facilities.

Record Tourist Influx Boosts Kaziranga Tourism

Assam Tourism Minister Atul Bora attributed the record tourist arrivals to growing global interest in Kaziranga, which gained wider attention following visits by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Droupadi Murmu and Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck. To support the increasing influx of visitors, the Assam government has also announced plans to develop Hyatt and Taj hotels near the national park.

The state has introduced several new experiences to make a trip to Kaziranga more engaging. Visitors can now explore the International Orchid Park, enjoy birdwatching in Panbari, cycle through Kohora, and opt for jeep and boat safaris in Biswanath. Initiatives such as Kaziranga Beyond National Park, community-run eco-shops, local souvenir outlets and trekking at Hemtap Hill in Silimkhowa village are also helping showcase the region beyond its famous one-horned rhinoceros while creating livelihood opportunities for local communities.

With record visitor numbers and continued investment in tourism infrastructure and experiences, Kaziranga is steadily strengthening its reputation as one of India’s premier wildlife tourism destinations.
