Guwahati: Three One-Horned Rhinoceros Poachers Arrested

On 27th December, three poachers arrested from the Biswanath region on the charges of dehorning the one-horned rhinoceros in Kaziranga National Park. Also, a 303 rifle was also seized from them. These are the same three poachers who shot dead a male rhino in October. All this happened when the police and forest guards launched a joint operation and arrested one of the poachers, Chandan Das, from somewhere close to the Arunachal Pradesh border. Two other accused poachers were arrested after the statement released by Chandan Das. They were identified as Muhikanta Hazarika of Dhalpur in Lakhimpur and Pipil Das of Gohpur.
