Best Time to Visit Kaziranga National Park

Kaziranga experiences tropical climate; thus the best time to visit for a wildlife tour would be either Summer or Winters. During the summer season, it is very hot and humid during the day but the night remains mild. One should avoid visiting here during the monsoon season as this is when the water of the Brahmaputra River floods the park. Also, the park remains closed for visitors from 1st May to 31st October.

Summer (February to May): 7°C- 37°C

During the summer season, the park remains accessible for tourists. But it is not a great to visit as it remains hot and humid. However, all those who wants to escape the rush this can be a good time to visit. For the budget travelers, summer is a highly recommended time as this is when they can get best travel deals on hotel bookings.

Monsoon (June to October): 10°C – 35°C

June marks the commencement of the monsoon season, which is just not a good time to visit Kaziranga for a wildlife holiday. The region experiences rainfall of 2,220 mm (87 inch) between June, and September, which at times lead to the flood. Approximately 3/4th western region of the park submerges due to the rising water level of the Brahmaputra.

Winter (November to February): 5°C – 25°C

Winters are the best time to visit Kaziranga as the weather is mild and dry. Also, winters is a good time for bird watching tours.
