Great news for the Assam tourism department as the Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve (KNPTR) in Assam has witnessed a notable rise in tourist footfall along with the growing popularity of non-conventional tourism sites within the park.<\/p>\n

Data Noted on Visitor Footfall and Significant Attractions in Kaziranga <\/h3>\n

Officials of Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve (KNPTR) recorded the highest number of tourist footfalls this year, 2023-24 since its establishment. The data that is noted down for the year 2023-24 is 3,27,493 which includes 3,13,574 Indian tourists and 13,919 international visitors. The park is widely recognised for its iconic wildlife creature, the one-horned Rhinoceros which has made the park a must visit destination for families and wildlife lovers to explore.<\/p>\n

The Eastern Assam Wildlife Division had the most influx, with the highest number of Indian and international tourists in 2023-24. Similarly, both the Nagaon Wildlife Division and the Bishwanath Wildlife Division had a significant rise in tourism and revenue over the same period.<\/p>\n

The significant attractions during the tourism season were the jungle safari and elephant safari which were opened post-monsoon in October 2023. Along with safari rides, tourists get a lot of other opportunities like cycling in the Karbi-Anglong area, watching dolphins through boat safaris and trekking in the Panbari forest range and Chirang. Many restaurants and local food joints also gained popularity due to the high tourist footfall and promoted eco-tourism in the region.<\/p>\n

The Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve is home to the Great Indian one-horned rhinoceros, the Indian elephant, the Bengal tiger, the wild water buffalo, and the eastern swamp deer along with other wildlife species.<\/p>\n

The Kaziranga National Park\u2019s region is one of India’s most significant wildlife tourism destinations which comprises three administrative divisions, including the Eastern Assam Wildlife Division, the Bishwanath Wildlife Division, and the Nagaon Wildlife Division. In the recent data recorded, the 3 divisions witnessed a record surge in tourism and popularity of the non-conventional sites since their establishment.<\/p>\n

It is worth mentioning, Kaziranga National Park was awarded \u2018Best Wildlife Destination in India<\/a>\u2019 by Outlook Traveller on August 24, 2022.<\/p>\n
