Great news for individuals planning a winter vacation! Kaziranga National Park<\/a>, home to a sizable population of one-horned rhinoceros, has some good news to share in an attempt to shore up the field of wildlife tourism through the “Kaziranga Bird Conservation Festival”. A citizen science project, the fifth waterbird census, will be part of the event. The Kaziranga National Park Bird Festival dates are January 9th and 10th, 2024. The Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS) and Kaziranga National Park are collaborating on the festival.<\/p>\n

According to surveys and studies, a significant gathering of both resident and migratory water birds was seen during the four successive water bird surveys that Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve undertook, from 2018\u20132019 to 2021\u20132022.<\/p>\n

The Kaziranga region, which is acknowledged as one of India’s most significant bird-watching destinations, is largely composed of grasslands and water features. The two main flyways that migrating birds follow from October to February are the Central Asian Flyway (CAF) and the East Asian-Australasian Flyway (EAAF). Kaziranga and the bigger Assam region are included in this flyway.<\/p>\n

The majority of migratory water birds come from the Tibet Plateau, Mongolia, Russia, Siberia, and Ladakh, as well as temperate parts of Eurasia. One of the earliest groups of migrating birds to arrive in this area are wagtails.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s special about the Kaziranga Bird Festival 2024?<\/h3>\n

With “Conserving Birds using Citizen Science” as its central topic, the festival seeks to actively involve ordinary individuals in the monitoring and conservation of bird populations. This cooperative strategy encourages shared responsibility for bird conservation initiatives in Kaziranga.<\/p>\n

The Kaziranga National Park bird festival’s objectives are to preserve and honour the bird species. The event will showcase Kaziranga’s abundant birds through live seminars, webinars, and a photographic competition. Birdwatchers, environmentalists, university students, and members of the public are all welcome to attend the event along with prominent individuals, environmentalists, and wildlife specialists.<\/p>\n

The director of Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve announced that in Kaziranga National Park Bird Festival 2024, respondents and young volunteers from the area will participate in the bird counts, making it one of the biggest citizen science projects. The whole border of the Kaziranga National Park & Tiger Reserve, including the Eastern Assam Wildlife Division, Biswanath Wildlife Division, and Nagaon Wildlife Division, will be covered by the census, which would encompass over 80 wetlands with more than 10-hectare size. <\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
