The award has been given at a function held in New Delhi on August 24 in front of a stellar jury, engrossing speakers and several tour operators, influencers, writers, designers and many more.<\/p>\n<p>The news also has been announced on social media platforms like Twitter, where the tweet made by <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/oltraveller\/status\/1562737862176837635\">Outlook Traveller\u2019s official handle<\/a> states that the Gold Award for being the best wildlife destination in India was received by Shri Padmapani Bora, Managing Director, Assam Tourism Development Corporation and Shri Maninder Singh, Additional Chief Secretary, Assam Tourism.<\/p>\n<p>Reportedly, four northeastern states in India have been felicitated for being the major contributors to promoting sustainable tourism in India.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Apart from Kaziranga in Assam, Pelling and Kanchenjunga in Sikkim have been conferred with Gold Award for being the best destination in India for stunning Mountain views.<\/li>\n<li>For the best scenic places in India for driving and scenery en route, the Gold Award goes to Gangtok to Lake Tsomgo and Nathu-La Pass, Sikkim.<\/li>\n<li>The Silver Award for \u2018Best Ecotourism Destination in India\u2019 goes to Meghalaya\u2019s Mawlynnong.<\/li>\n<li>The Silver Award for \u2018Best Offbeat Destination in India\u2019 goes to Nagaland\u2019s Khonoma.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Over the years, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.northeasttoday.in\/2022\/08\/25\/outlook-traveller-awards-2022-four-northeastern-states-recognized-for-promoting-sustainable-tourism\/\">Outlook Traveller Awards<\/a> has attracted people related to the travel and tourism industry in India. This year, the goal was to examine the changes in the travel process, which has become the \u2018new normal,\u2019 especially, after the pandemic and discuss the innovations that have been created in this period.<\/p>\n<p><p>As per reports, besides these four northeast states, several other states and union territories have been awarded for their contribution to the travel industry. The awards are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bihar: Bodh Gaya<\/li>\n<li>Kashmir: Gulmarg<\/li>\n<li>Tamil Nadu: Nilgiri and Coonoor<\/li>\n<li>Chattisgarh: Bastar<\/li>\n<li>Uttarakhand: Rishikesh<\/li>\n<li>Andaman &amp; Nicobar Island: Havelock<\/li>\n<li>Uttar Pradesh: Mathura (Holi Festival)<\/li>\n<li>West Bengal: Kolkata (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tourmyindia.com\/blog\/interesting-facts-kolkata-durga-puja\/\">Durga Puja Festival<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>Madhya Pradesh: Mandu<\/li>\n<li>Rajasthan: Kumbhalgarh and Chittorgarh Forts<\/li>\n<li>Ladakh: Zanskar<\/li>\n<li>West Bengal: Sunderbans<\/li>\n<li>Uttar Pradesh: Varanasi<\/li>\n<li>Jammu &amp; Kashmir: Gurez<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As mentioned, the programme was held in New Delhi on August 24 where the chief guest was Shri G. Kishan Reddy, the Union Minister for Culture, Tourism &amp; DONER. The Jury Chair was appointed to Meenakshi Sharma, Deputy Comptroller &amp; Auditor General, Government of India.
